Job Requirements
- Most work tasks are performed indoors
- Temperature controlled by hotel environmental systems with ability to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 degrees F) and kitchens (+110 degrees F) for one hour or more
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours
- Ability to physically handle knives, pots, and other kitchen equipment and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to create, build, handle, and dismantle displays up to 8 feet high including ice carvings
- Subject to noise requiring shouting to be heard
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift regularly
- Must be able to lift trays of food up to 30 pounds regularly
- Ability to push and pull carts and equipment up to 250 pounds regularly
- Requires manual dexterity, finger dexterity, visual acuity, and listening ability
- Talking and hearing continuously occur for communication
- Reading and writing abilities for paperwork and logging information
- Must have the ability to reach other hotel locations timely
- Ability to exert ability in limited space with simultaneous functions occurring
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic math skills
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities
- Passionate about people and service
Job Duties
- Greet and seat all guests and ensure a quality dining experience
- Assist in keeping the restaurant area and kitchen neat and clean
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools including dishwashing machines and trash compactors
- Wash and disinfect kitchen and storeroom areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock
- Ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas
- Use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
- Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items and send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and rewashing
- Sort, soak, and wash/rewash silverware
- Breakdown dirty bus tubs
- Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
- Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
- Dispose of glass in proper containers and break down cardboard boxes for recycling
- Prevent loss of dishware, utensils, and other kitchen equipment
- Promptly report all maintenance issues
- Assist servers with clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables upon guests' departure if necessary
- Assist servers with clearing room service trays from corridors if necessary
