Job Description
Keeneland is a prominent horse racing and sales company located in Lexington, Kentucky. Renowned for its prestigious Thoroughbred racing meets and premier Thoroughbred auctions, Keeneland is deeply embedded in the equestrian and racing industry, offering a unique blend of tradition and innovation. The company operates across multiple facets of the industry including racing, sales, and brand management, and prides itself on delivering high-quality events and content to a devoted audience of racing enthusiasts, buyers, sellers, and industry stakeholders. Keeneland values collaboration, creativity, and excellence as it preserves the legacy of Thoroughbred racing while embracing modern marketing and communication strategies.
The Digital Content Coordinator role at Keeneland is essential to executing the company’s comprehensive digital content strategy, which spans racing, sales, and brand initiatives. This position focuses on ensuring that all digital content is captured, curated, and distributed effectively across various platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube Shorts. The coordinator works closely with several internal teams including Communications, Marketing, and Broadcast, supporting real-time content creation and storytelling especially during race meets, sales, and special events. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong organizational, communication, and project management skills who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, often outdoor environment. The candidate must be adept in social media best practices, content production, digital asset management, and performance monitoring. The position demands availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays to cover live events. Keeneland strongly encourages applicants to submit a portfolio or examples of original social media content or production work.
In addition to content coordination and publishing, the role involves hands-on content production, including capturing photo and video content designed for social-first platforms. The Digital Content Coordinator will assist with video shoots, interviews, live coverage, and the ongoing optimization of digital assets to enhance Keeneland’s storytelling and audience engagement. Maintaining digital asset libraries and collaborating with external partners like freelance videographers and photographers are also key responsibilities. A critical aspect of this role is the analysis and reporting of digital content performance to inform strategic content decisions, keeping Keeneland’s digital presence fresh, relevant, and engaging. Knowledge of digital analytics and emerging social media trends is highly valued, as is an appreciation for the Thoroughbred industry.
This full-time position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, public relations, or a related field, and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in digital marketing, content creation, or social media management. A valid driver's license and a Kentucky Horse Racing Commission License are mandatory at the time of hire. The physical demands are significant given the frequent requirement to stand and walk extensively outdoors, sometimes lifting up to 50 pounds and working in varying weather conditions. The role provides a unique opportunity for a creative and organized digital content professional to contribute to one of the most respected names in horse racing and sales, helping to shape Keeneland’s digital storytelling and audience engagement strategies.
