Job Description
The Bariatric Outpatient Clinic is a specialized healthcare facility dedicated to providing comprehensive nutritional and dietary care with a focus on weight management and bariatric patient populations. This clinic operates within a multidisciplinary environment, offering outpatient services aimed at supporting patients before and after bariatric surgery as well as those seeking effective weight management solutions. The clinic’s mission is to improve patient outcomes through tailored nutritional assessments, interventions, and education, helping patients achieve sustainable health improvements and enhanced quality of life. The team at this clinic comprises skilled healthcare professionals, including dietitians, physicians, and support staff, who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality care founded on evidence-based practices. The clinic emphasizes continuous professional development and mentorship, fostering an environment where staff can grow and excel in their roles.
The Dietitian Specialist 2 role at the Bariatric Outpatient Clinic is a critical position designed to support both inpatient and outpatient nutritional care through detailed assessments and evidence-based interventions. This position is responsible for completing thorough nutritional assessments and reassessments within specific time frames, ensuring each patient receives customized care plans that promote optimal nutritional outcomes. The role includes participating in outpatient group nutrition classes, managing individual appointments in response to referrals, and providing specialized nutrition education to patients and their families. This position also involves delivering in-services and educational lectures to clinical staff to enhance their knowledge and performance levels. Mentorship responsibilities are a key component, with the dietitian guiding dietitians, dietetic technicians, and diet aides to uphold high standards of practice.
The Dietitian Specialist 2 works closely with medical and dietetic students, interns, residents, and attending physicians, serving as a consultant to improve clinical knowledge and patient care strategies. Assigned duties may span inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings, offering a diverse range of clinical experiences. Candidates applying for this position should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field, along with at least two years of clinical nutrition experience. They must hold a valid certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN) and preferably have experience working with bariatric and weight management populations, including some acute care experience. The position operates within regular business hours, Monday through Friday, and offers a competitive recruitment incentive bonus of up to $5,000, subject to eligibility, as well as relocation assistance for qualified candidates upon approval.
This role demands not only technical expertise in clinical nutrition but also strong communication skills in English, with Spanish language skills considered a plus. The ideal candidate will be adept at using relevant computer and software programs, troubleshooting patient care equipment, and will demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills essential for managing multiple assignments effectively. The Dietitian Specialist 2 will work independently with minimal supervision yet remain an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care within a supportive outpatient clinic environment.
