This role, the Tray Line Supervisor, operates under the direct supervision of the Director of Food Services and plays a pivotal role in coordinating and supervising the activities of Cooks and Food Service Workers. The main objective of this position is to oversee the preparation, service, and clean-up operations related to all food service activities, ensuring that meals are prepared and presented at their best in terms of attractiveness, palatability, and accuracy. Responsible for inspecting trays and coordinating requests from various floors during and after mealtime, the Tray Line Supervisor also manages the timing and quality of meal delivery including handling of any late trays. The role involves direct supervision of food service employees, ensuring that established procedures are adhered to strictly in preparation, cooking, service, and sanitation.

In addition, the Tray Line Supervisor is charged with monitoring portion sizes, tray-line quantities, and resident dining room operations, especially during evening meal service. The role requires oversight of dishwashing and cleaning operations in the dish-room to ensure sanitation standards are consistently met. Leadership responsibilities include assisting in employee orientation, conducting training sessions and performance reviews, and making influential recommendations on hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination matters. The supervisor also manages scheduling and shift coverage, addresses resident and family concerns, oversees cafeteria operations including cash handling, coordinates special evening functions, and ensures secure storage practices and facility lock-up procedures at the close of each shift.

This full-time supervisory position demands strong experience in institutional or commercial food service settings, with a minimum of three years required. Applicants with a supervisory background and preferred certifications such as the Dietary Manager Certificate or a two-year degree in Food Service Management are highly considered. In addition to a High School diploma and Safe Serve Certification, these qualifications ensure the supervisor is well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer satisfaction. Job Duties
