Job Description

Clairidge House Nursing Home is a well-established healthcare facility dedicated to providing compassionate and top-quality care to its residents. Specialized in skilled nursing care, Clairidge House Nursing Home ensures a supportive and comfortable environment for elderly and disabled individuals requiring assistance with daily living and medical needs. The facility prides itself on a patient-centered approach, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for all residents through comprehensive services, including medical care, rehabilitation, and nutritional support. The nursing home employs a team of committed professionals who uphold the highest standards of care and demonstrate empathy, respect, and dignity in their daily interactions with residents and their families.

We are currently seeking a part-time Cook to join our dietary team at Clairidge House Nursing Home. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals that meet their dietary requirements and preferences. The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and is primarily responsible for preparing and cooking family-style meals and snacks as outlined in the facility menu. While nursing home or institutional food service experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about cooking and eager to support a healthcare environment.

The Dietary Cook will handle multiple tasks, including meal preparation, adherence to safety and hygiene standards, and coordination with other dietary staff. Additionally, in the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook will assume supervisory responsibilities, overseeing non-supervisory employees, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. This aspect of the role requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to maintain the high standards of our dietary department.

Ideal candidates will display patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition, with the capability to manage challenging situations and resident interactions effectively. The position also demands excellent communication skills to relay pertinent information concerning residents' conditions to supervisors or nursing staff promptly. This role combines culinary skills with a nurturing attitude, integral to supporting the wellbeing of our residents.

Clairidge House Nursing Home values its employees and offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to promote their health, financial security, and career growth. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, supplemental insurance options such as accident, critical illness, and short-term disability coverage, as well as a generous 401(k) employer match program. We also support continuous education through tuition reimbursement and provide paid time off to encourage work-life balance. Joining Clairidge House Nursing Home as a part-time Cook means becoming part of a caring community dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others through quality nutritional care and teamwork.
