The Deputy Program Manager role at L3Harris, located in Rochester, NY, offers a unique opportunity to work within the Exquisite Imaging Solutions Business Area in the Space Superiority & Imaging Division. This role operates on a 9/80 work schedule, allowing every other Friday off, and provides a salary range between $92,500 and $171,500, subject to experience and geographic location. The Deputy Program Manager collaborates closely with the Program Manager to oversee all phases of program execution from inception to completion. This position demands strong leadership to meet key business and financial objectives related to orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow for both new and ongoing programs.

The Deputy Program Manager is accountable for managing the cost, schedule, and technical performance of critical programs or subsystems within major programs. Responsibilities include coordinating proposal preparation, business plans, Statements of Work, specifications, operating budgets, and contract financial terms and conditions. Serving as a secondary customer contact, this role supports coordination of program reviews to discuss performance metrics such as cost, schedule, and technical progress. It also directs the efforts of employees assigned to the program in both technical and administrative capacities.

A significant aspect of the role involves managing programs focused on advanced electro-optical technologies for space applications that hold strategic importance. The Deputy Program Manager is expected to establish and execute program plans within a firm fixed price structure, drive program execution, support capture management efforts for additional scope, and assist with technology investment planning. Communication is vital in this role, requiring effective interaction not only within the team but also with internal executives and external customers to influence stakeholder decisions and ensure business success.

This position entails working collaboratively with various functional organizations to ensure resource availability, capability, and empowerment to achieve program goals. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience or minimum 4 years with graduate degree or minimum 10 years without degree
  • Proven leadership in program management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Budget and cost control management ability
  • Experience with proposals
  • Knowledge of hardware development processes
  • Understanding of earned value management system
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Or, graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
  • Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • Prior successful program leadership role including earned value IPT role
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and analyze budgets and cost controls
  • Proposal contributor experience
  • Experience managing pieces of a hardware development effort
  • EVMS expertise

Job Duties
