While the franchisee holds a license to use McDonald's logos and food products, it functions as a separate company and employer. Employment decisions, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, and scheduling, are solely the responsibility of the franchisee. McDonald's USA does not have any control or involvement in these employment matters. This distinction ensures that all employment-related processes and decisions are handled exclusively by the franchisee managing the restaurant.

This particular role is for a Department Manager position. Department Managers at McDonald's lead shifts weekly to ensure customers receive fast, accurate, and friendly service every time. The Kitchen Department Manager ensures that the food meets McDonald's quality and safety standards, keeps food costs controlled, and trains kitchen staff on production procedures including new menu items. The People Department Manager is responsible for hiring and training qualified crew members, managing schedules to meet sales and profit targets, and keeping team members motivated and recognized throughout their employment.
