Job Description
This job opportunity is offered by a McDonald’s franchise, which is independently owned and operated by a franchisee separate from McDonald’s USA. The franchisee holds the license to use McDonald’s brand logos and food products, operating under the McDonald’s name, but is responsible for all employment decisions, including hiring, firing, staffing, and scheduling employees within their restaurant. McDonald’s USA has no direct managerial control over employment matters at the franchise location, nor do they receive or review employment applications from candidates applying to this business.
The franchise operation reflects the iconic McDonald’s brand known worldwide for its fast service and delicious food offerings. Working in this environment provides employees with the unique advantage of being part of a globally recognized fast-food chain while experiencing a supportive and localized work atmosphere where team collaboration, leadership, and customer service excellence are promoted.
This position focuses on the role of a Department Manager within the restaurant, a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing various operational segments such as Guest Service, Kitchen, or People departments. As a Department Manager, you will have the rewarding responsibility of leading your team through daily operations to achieve fast, friendly, and accurate customer service, all while ensuring adherence to food safety standards, employee training, and the efficient management of restaurant resources.
The role offers tremendous opportunities for career progression within the fast-paced foodservice industry. It is ideal for motivated individuals seeking a challenging and engaging position where they can develop managerial skills, lead dynamic teams, and deliver memorable dining experiences to customers. The work environment encourages a culture of positivity, energy, and purpose, actively supporting team members’ growth through continuous coaching, leadership development, and performance recognition.
Department Managers are entrusted with core responsibilities including managing assigned systems such as training programs, food safety protocols, and inventory management. They set performance goals, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure smooth communication and follow-up within their teams and across other managerial staff.
The Guest Service Manager ensures that the crew consistently deliver excellent customer service, oversees marketing promotions, and manages service areas like front counter, McCafé, and drive-thru to optimize the customer experience. The Kitchen Manager focuses on food quality, safety compliance, production efficiency, and cost control. The People Manager is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling competent staff, and fostering a motivating work culture that supports employee retention and recognition.
Ideal candidates for this position will possess previous managerial experience, preferably within the restaurant, retail, or hospitality sectors. Candidates should exhibit flexibility with their schedules and have a passion for maintaining a high-energy work environment synonymous with the fast-paced rhythm of McDonald’s operations. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for the managerial role at corporate-owned outlets.
In addition to competitive compensation, the franchisee offers an attractive benefits package to Department Managers. Benefits include generous paid vacation days ranging from 15 to 25 days, paid holidays, and sabbaticals, as well as comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. The franchisee supports employees’ educational goals through the Archways to Opportunity program, which offers paths to earn a high school diploma, college tuition assistance, and English language learning opportunities. Additional benefits include short- and long-term disability insurance, life and accident insurance, paid leaves of absence, service awards, employee resource connections, adoption assistance, and a matching gifts program.
This job posting provides a general overview of the Department Manager role within this McDonald’s franchise environment and is not an exhaustive description of all job duties. As a Department Manager, you will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the restaurant’s success and customer satisfaction on a daily basis.
By applying to this position, candidates acknowledge that they are seeking employment with an independently owned franchisee and not with McDonald’s USA. Employment matters are handled exclusively by the franchisee, ensuring that the application is processed solely by the independent operator, who will contact applicants directly. Candidates understand that McDonald’s USA will not be involved in employment decisions for this position and will not receive their application information.
