Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group company, is a prominent player in the food distribution industry, serving as a vital link in America's food supply chain. As a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established itself as a leader providing fresh and broad-line solutions to the convenience retail market across the United States and Canada. With an impressive revenue of over $23 billion, the company prides itself on empowering customers, employees, and communities while maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace culture centered around rewards, recognition, and respect.

This job opportunity is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, a role essential to the smooth operation of the country’s food supply system. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $60,000 to $75,000 during the first year, with compensation based on performance paid for every stop, cube, and mile after training. The role provides weekends off, night dispatches starting at 4 PM, and involves night driving duties. This employment opportunity includes a comprehensive benefits package from day one, such as health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others.

The Driver plays a crucial role as the face of the company, ensuring timely and safe delivery of products while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers. It requires experienced individuals capable of driving tractor-trailer or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate and interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers must perform safety inspections, comply with Department of Transportation regulations, and adhere to company policies to maintain high standards of safety and service.

Apart from driving duties, the role entails operational responsibilities such as performing pre-trip and post-trip safety checks, inspecting equipment, securing freight, completing necessary paperwork accurately, loading and unloading goods, conducting damage control checks, obtaining delivery confirmations and signatures, and following proper procedures for returns and damaged items. Accurate record keeping and adherence to DOT regulations regarding hours of service are also critical to this position.

Working as part of a team, the Driver will interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure smooth deliveries and answer queries promptly. The role demands physical capability to handle freight lifting and use of equipment like hand trucks, lift gates, and other tools for moving and stacking products safely. Freight sizes may vary significantly, often ranging from 10 to 35 pounds, but occasionally up to between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the location.

The company values diversity and inclusion and provides equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, or other protected statuses. This commitment combines with Core-Mark’s ambition to foster growth and career advancement within the food distribution sector, making it a promising career path for dedicated drivers who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s food logistics operations.
