This job posting is for a Class A Delivery Driver position based out of Farmingdale, NY, primarily delivering to Long Island. This role offers a guaranteed minimum weekly pay of $1650, reflecting the essential nature of the work and the demand for professional, reliable drivers. The schedule is Monday through Friday with local routes that ensure drivers are home nightly and have weekends off, with shifts starting between 3:00 am and 7:00 am. The role is highly suitable for those who value work-life balance and consistent schedules.

The Delivery Driver plays a vital role in the food and food service delivery process, ensuring that products reach customers on time and in excellent condition. In this role, drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate local and over-the-road (OTR) routes, sometimes including shuttle and overnight drives. The driver must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional operation.

In addition to driving, the Driver - Supply Chain Management (SCM) represents the company at customer sites, maintaining positive, professional relationships by addressing customer and vendor inquiries promptly and clearly. Teamwork and a commitment to company service standards are critical to this position, which may require performing various duties to assist the organization.

The position responsibilities encompass a wide range of operational tasks, including conducting all required safety inspections of the tractor, trailer, and truck before and after trips; ensuring equipment meets safety standards; and reporting any needed repairs or hazards immediately. Drivers handle the loading and unloading of products, including scanning shipments, checking invoices, securing freight, and managing returns. Additionally, drivers complete all necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner, maintain cleanliness in their equipment, and adhere strictly to DOT hours of service and log requirements.

The role requires physical ability to handle product cases with weights generally between 10 and 35 pounds, occasionally up to 60 to 90 pounds, using tools like two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment for moving freight. Drivers must have a clean motor vehicle record, a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, and meet state licensing requirements where applicable. Passing a road test, drug screening, criminal background check, and possessing or obtaining a DOT health card are essential prerequisites for employment in this role.

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money (cash or checks) where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • At the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
