US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor dedicated to helping customers succeed by providing superior products, services, and solutions that shape and support communities across the United States. As one of the largest foodservice distributors in the country, US Foods serves a diverse customer base including restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality businesses, and more. The company places a strong emphasis on integrity, reliability, and building lasting relationships with its customers, suppliers, and employees. With a dedicated workforce and expansive distribution network, US Foods plays a crucial role in the foodservice supply chain. The company is known for fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment where employees are respected and rewarded for their hard work.
The role of a US Foods Driver is vital within the company’s logistics and distribution operations. This position involves the safe and timely delivery of foodservice products to various customers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of each delivery. Drivers are responsible not only for transporting goods but also for maintaining excellent customer service and adherence to safety compliance. Compensation for this role is competitive and depends on relevant experience, education, specific skills, function, and geographic location. The training base rate starts at $24.87 per hour and after training, drivers are paid based on miles, cases, and stops. Overtime compensation is also provided where applicable.
Drivers work primarily on a Sunday night through Friday schedule with options for 4 or 5 day workweeks, allowing for 2 or 3 days off during the week. Routes are typically dispatched between 10 pm and 3 am, and team routes may be assigned as needed. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 80+ pounds of product repeatedly throughout the shift. Drivers must also be able to work under various weather conditions with multiple stops per shift.
Essential duties include safely operating trucks, unloading products using equipment like pallet jacks or two-wheelers, verifying delivery accuracy, obtaining customer signatures, and handling payments when necessary. Drivers are required to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure safety and compliance. The role demands strong communication skills in English and the ability to read and understand highway traffic signs and signals.
To qualify for this position, individuals must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications issued by their state of residence, and have a minimum of six months commercial driving experience in any industry or three months specifically in food and beverage delivery. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is mandatory as per Department of Transportation regulations. US Foods values its drivers as essential team members and offers a broad range of benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, disability coverage, employee stock purchase plans, and more to support and reward their dedication. This role offers a unique opportunity for skilled drivers who are seeking a stable and rewarding career with a reputable company committed to their professional growth and well-being.
