Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States that provides a broad range of products and services to restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations, and educational institutions. With a focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, US Foods supports its customers by delivering fresh, high-quality products and superior service to help them succeed in their respective markets. Known for its commitment to its employees and customers, US Foods fosters a culture of integrity, respect, and collaboration, encouraging career growth and professional development within the company.

The role of CDL A Delivery Driver at the US Foods Phoenix Distribution Center offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to build a rewarding career in the foodservice industry. This position primarily involves safely operating delivery trucks to ensure timely deliveries to customers, handling products carefully, verifying delivery accuracy, and providing exceptional customer service. This is a night shift position, scheduled between 8:00 PM and midnight, Sunday through Friday, typically involving a 4 to 5-day workweek with Saturdays off. The work requires physical endurance, including lifting and moving between 20 to over 80 pounds and working in various weather conditions with frequent stops.

US Foods offers its Delivery Drivers a competitive starting hourly wage of $32.28. After meeting certain criteria, the pay structure shifts to a compensation model based on miles driven, the number of cases delivered, and stops made, with hourly wages guaranteed during any downtime. This compensation plan motivates drivers to maximize their efficiency and rewards them for their efforts. The company also provides comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance, further supporting its employees' well-being and financial security.

The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements, and have a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience or at least three months in the food and beverage delivery sector. Familiarity with manual transmissions is preferred, as some locations may require this skill. Strong communication skills in English are essential to interact effectively with customers and comply with safety and legal regulations. Additionally, all drivers must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse database, a federal requirement to ensure compliance with drug and alcohol testing programs.

By joining US Foods, drivers become part of a dedicated team that values integrity and reliability. US Foods emphasizes cultural beliefs that promote a strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and commitment to service. Drivers play a crucial role as the public face of the company, contributing to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. With its focus on Total Rewards, US Foods recognizes and rewards the hard work and dedication of its employees, offering opportunities for career advancement and personal growth within a dynamic and stable organization.
