Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, boasting a strong culture and a history of promotion from within, alongside unlimited career growth opportunities for its employees. With a commitment to job skills and leadership development training, US Foods nurtures the professional growth of its team members. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package that begins on the first day of employment, including medical, dental, vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), life insurance, and paid parental leave. At US Foods, safety is a top priority, supported by excellent local leadership dedicated to the success of every employee.

The role of a US Foods CDL-A Delivery Truck Driver starts with a competitive training base rate of $33.43 per hour. After training, drivers transition to component pay that is based on miles driven, the number of cases handled, and stops made. The company also provides hourly pay during any downtime. This position invites drivers who are eager to challenge themselves, grow their careers, and enjoy the benefits of being part of the US Foods family.

Delivery Truck Drivers at US Foods lead with safety as their foremost priority while managing local and layover routes that are allocated based on driver tenure. Orders for delivery are conveniently pre-picked on plastic pallets to facilitate easy unloading. All route trailers come equipped with liftgates and powered pallet jacks, and tractors and trailers are assigned according to how long a driver has been with the company. Delivery routes generally start between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, with flexible schedules including four- and five-day workweeks that offer consecutive days off. Additional work on the fifth and sixth days is available with paid incentives.

Drivers are responsible for performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and any other tasks necessary to ensure the efficiency and safety of deliveries. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull products weighing between 20 and 80+ pounds repeatedly throughout each shift. Drivers must also be comfortable operating in inclement weather while making frequent stops (10 or more per shift).

This role demands compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including mandatory registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure online database monitoring CDL holders' drug and alcohol violations. Applicants must meet specific age, licensing, and experience standards, such as being at least 21 years old and holding a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements. Experience criteria include a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience, with preference given to candidates with foodservice driving backgrounds. Ability to operate a manual transmission is preferred and may be required in certain locations. Proficiency in English is necessary for understanding traffic signs, responding to official inquiries, and completing reports and records.

Compensation for this role varies based on experience, education, skills, geographic location, and other legally applicable factors, with an expected base rate between $33.43 and $45.00 per hour. US Foods offers a strong safety culture and provides excellent local leadership committed to employee success, ensuring drivers are supported and valued throughout their careers.
