Known for its commitment to fostering close relationships with a variety of customers across sectors such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice stands out in the industry. The company boasts a dedicated team composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts who provide comprehensive support ranging from menu development and product selection to strategic operational advice. This personalized service not only ensures the delivery of top-quality food but also bolsters the growth and success of independent restaurant owners and other clients. The company prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive work environment characterized by a culture that values rewards, recognition, and respect for its employees. Performance Foodservice also emphasizes equal employment opportunities, affirming its commitment to diversity and non-discrimination in all aspects of employment.
The CDL-B Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role within the company, charged with ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers across intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks, managing both over-the-road (OTR) and local deliveries. This role demands a professional approach to customer interaction as drivers represent the face of the company, forming enduring relationships with clients while upholding the company’s safety standards and operational policies. Drivers are expected to perform various responsibilities that include conducting thorough safety inspections following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, accurately completing all associated paperwork, and managing freight loading and unloading efficiently.
Performance Foodservice offers competitive pay with a minimum daily guarantee of 250 dollars, reflecting the critical nature of the role. The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays, and drivers typically work 10-12 hour days with varying start and end times. The company provides comprehensive benefits from day one, including health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, supporting both the financial well-being and personal growth of its workforce.
Drivers are not only responsible for the physical transportation of goods but also for maintaining compliance with all DOT and company safety guidelines, reporting safety issues, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, and handling returns and damaged goods. Attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety are essential in this role. The company values team-oriented professionals who are reliable, communicative, and willing to take on additional related duties as assigned, contributing to a smooth and efficient distribution process.
In summary, joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-B Driver means stepping into a key role in America's food supply system, with the opportunity for career growth and the backing of a company dedicated to employee health, safety, and professional development. This position is ideal for individuals seeking stable employment with a reputable distributor that values its employees and supports their long-term success.
