Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, known for its rich history, strong culture, and commitment to promoting from within. The company operates within the foodservice industry, providing a wide range of products and services that support customers and communities across the country. With a focus on continuous improvement, US Foods offers excellent training programs and a supportive work environment. The company values its employees highly and fosters a culture rooted in integrity, reliability, and a collaborative spirit. Benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, and a strong safety culture exemplify their commitment to their workforce. Local leadership teams are dedicated to helping employees grow and succeed, making US Foods not just a workplace but a long-term career choice.

The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is integral to the company’s success and reputation. Delivery drivers play a crucial part in ensuring that customers receive their orders on time, maintaining product integrity, and upholding the company’s standard of customer service excellence. Drivers earn a competitive wage of $36.00 per hour and may also be eligible for overtime compensation. This position is designed for individuals who are safety-conscious, customer-oriented, and ready to operate commercial vehicles in various weather conditions while making frequent delivery stops.

Delivery drivers are responsible for safely driving trucks to customers, ensuring timely deliveries, and handling products with care during unloading processes. This may involve using equipment such as two-wheelers or pallet jacks to move products to designated customer storage areas. Accuracy in deliveries is critical, requiring drivers to verify orders with customers and obtain proper signatures when required. Additionally, some responsibilities include managing collections and payments when applicable and performing both pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.

Physical stamina is essential for this role due to the need to lift, carry, push, or pull products weighing between 20 to 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Drivers must also be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and managing frequent stops—often more than 10 per shift. Beyond physical demands, the role requires clear communication skills in English for understanding highway signs, interacting with customers, responding to official inquiries, and accurately completing necessary reports.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by their state of legal residence, accompanied by all necessary endorsements and Department of Transportation qualifications. A minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months specifically in food and beverage delivery is required. Experience operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be mandated in certain locations.

The Department of Transportation requires all drivers to register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure online database that tracks drug and alcohol program violations among CDL and commercial learner’s permit holders. This registration is mandatory for employment with US Foods and supports the company’s commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Overall, this role offers not only a chance to join a leading food distributor but also an opportunity to join a team that values safety, customer satisfaction, and professional growth. US Foods is committed to providing a rewarding total compensation package including benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more. Drivers are vital ambassadors for the company, and US Foods supports them in making their careers successful and fulfilling.
