The Management Trainee position is designed to groom individuals for future leadership roles within the company by providing comprehensive training across all facets of convenience store and food and beverage operations. This role is full-time and requires dedication, with an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.

As a Management Trainee at Spinx, you will be under the guidance of a General Manager Trainer, learning the complexities of running a successful retail store. Your training will cover essential areas such as recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and supervising store employees. You will gain hands-on experience in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for staff, customers, and vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards. Managing store profitability is also a key aspect of this role, where you will learn to execute marketing programs effectively, control expenses, manage inventory and shrinkage, and maintain brand standards.

This position offers a pathway to grow within Spinx by understanding key operational elements including point-of-sale systems, food preparation, stocking, cleaning, and cash handling. You will develop leadership skills by coaching associates and secondary management personnel to uphold merchandising, pricing, and administrative procedures. Furthermore, the Management Trainee role is accountable for the store's overall physical image, food quality, equipment maintenance, and safe environment, which directly impact customer satisfaction and business success.

Job Requirements

  • Required to work 50 hours per week
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Four-year college degree or minimum two years retail management experience or equivalent
  • Valid in-state driver’s license with required insurance and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Achieve and maintain NRE Certification within 3 attempts
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds including regular lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Must perform all essential functions satisfactorily
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and moderate to high noise environment

Job Qualifications

  • Four-year college or university degree or minimum of two years related retail management experience or training
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
  • Ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • Valid in-state driver’s license with required auto insurance and acceptable motor vehicle report
  • Ability to obtain and maintain National Registry Examination Certification
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Job Duties

  • Complete NRE training and become certified
  • Direct and coordinate staff in providing customer service activities
  • Review and act upon customer requests, complaints, and inquiries
  • Learn how to maximize sales and profits within the territory
  • Control store expenses and monitor shrinkage as outlined in the Inventory Management Plan
  • Assist in coaching associates and secondary management personnel
  • Lead by example demonstrating knowledge of store functions including point-of-sale equipment, food prep, cleaning, and stocking
  • Responsible for the facility’s physical image, food quality, maintenance, equipment, and safe environment
  • Follow the proper communication flow according to company guidelines
  • Perform duties in alignment with company metrics and standards
