The Delivery Driver role is essential for the efficient operation and growth of Capitol Building Supply, tasked with safely and promptly delivering building materials to commercial and residential job sites. This position requires proficient knowledge and adherence to Department of Transportation regulations to ensure all deliveries are made without incident or damage to freight. The role demands stamina and physical strength, with responsibilities including the safe loading and unloading of heavy building materials that can weigh over 80 pounds. Drivers will inspect trucks and trailers to guarantee safe operation and maintain detailed records as required by law. Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor are crucial, as drivers represent the company during direct interactions with customers at delivery sites.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
  • Minimum Class B license, Class A strongly preferred
  • Clear three-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations
  • Ability to self-manage, show initiative, and be proactive
  • Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy building materials up to 100+ pounds
  • Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize job sites and deadlines
  • High degree of sound judgment

Job Duties

  • Inspect truck/trailer for defects for safe operation
  • Safely load building materials onto flatbed or boom truck and unload products at commercial and residential job sites
  • Deliver materials to assigned area as directed by the customer while prioritizing personal safety and the safety of those around you
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations
  • Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment
  • Lift heavy building materials up to 100+ lbs. for load/unload
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional attitude
