Job Description
S.P. Richards Company is a well-established leader in the office products distribution industry, known for its extensive catalog and commitment to providing quality products and exceptional service to businesses across a wide geographic area. Founded with the mission to meet the evolving needs of office environments, S.P. Richards has grown into a trusted partner for many organizations, delivering everything from essential office supplies to cutting-edge technology products. The company's long-standing dedication to diversity and equal employment opportunity highlights its inclusive workplace culture, fostering an environment where all employees can thrive regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, or other protected characteristics.
As a Class A CDL Delivery Driver with S.P. Richards, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s reputation for reliability and customer satisfaction. This full-time position demands a high level of responsibility, precision, and adherence to safety protocols. The driver is tasked with the safe and timely delivery and retrieval of office products to and from customers along established day routes, a vital function that ensures businesses receive what they need to operate smoothly. Holding a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement is mandatory, reflecting the importance of compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, especially concerning hazardous materials.
Your daily responsibilities will include performing DOT-mandated pre- and post-trip inspections on your assigned vehicle to ensure it is safe and well-maintained for operation. You will verify orders, maintain accurate proof of delivery records, and ensure compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations through the use of the company’s Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and mobile technology. Handling hazardous materials requires careful attention to DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR), strict adherence to company policies, and compliance with customer requirements to guarantee safe transportation and delivery.
In addition to driving, you will be actively involved in loading and unloading products using pallet jacks, dollies, or manual handling techniques, as well as retrieving product returns. Attention to detail and professionalism in customer interactions are critical, as your conduct while representing S.P. Richards reflects the company’s values and dedication to safety standards. Cleanliness and light maintenance of your vehicle are also your responsibilities, ensuring your equipment remains in top condition.
This role requires strong physical stamina, as lifting up to 70 pounds and moving heavier loads over 1,000 pounds using equipment is part of the job. Excellent communication skills in English are necessary to meet FMCSA regulations and ensure clear understanding and execution of duties. The ideal candidate should have a stable work history, be punctual, and reside within 60 miles of the distribution center.
S.P. Richards offers a workplace that balances independent work with frequent customer interaction, set against a dynamic environment that includes warehouse, roadway, dock, and delivery site conditions. Joining the company means becoming part of a team dedicated to operational excellence, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction, where every role contributes directly to the success of the company and its customers.
