The role of the Driver, Formula CDL-B at Core-Mark is integral to the nationwide food distribution system, ensuring timely and secure delivery of food and food-related products. This position requires the operation of tractor trailers or straight trucks on varied routes that include intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drives. Drivers not only execute the physical aspects of delivery but serve as the face of Core-Mark, crafting positive and professional relationships with customers. The driver must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, perform safety inspections, manage inventory verification, and maintain accurate delivery records. The role demands the handling of products with care and attention to company policies, including unloading items, securing freight, and managing returns or damaged goods when necessary. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CDL-B license
- At least 6 months of commercial delivery experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or currently hold a valid DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift items and operate equipment to move product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CDL-B license
- Minimum 6 months of commercial delivery experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or possess valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack products generally ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items and contacts supervisor about removing orders per company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects payment where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are always securely locked
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Unloads equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters log according to DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
- Secures all equipment and completes paperwork at end of shift
- Performs other related duties as assigned
