The position available is for a Custodian/Customer Service Representative (CSR), a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall satisfaction of the environments SBM Management oversees. This role blends custodial responsibilities with customer service duties, requiring individuals who are dependable, hardworking, and possess strong interpersonal skills. The Custodian/CSR works closely with other team members and interacts with customers, ensuring that the facilities remain in pristine condition and that clients receive exceptional service. Responsibilities span a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks including floor care such as vacuuming and mopping, surface care like dusting and sanitizing, waste removal, light maintenance, and restocking supplies. The role also entails adhering to safety standards and company protocols, demonstrating the ability to follow explicit instructions, and using good judgment in decision-making processes.
Beyond the physical aspects of maintenance, this position emphasizes professional appearance, proper conduct, and communication skills, as the Custodian/CSR often assists in training others and explaining work methods. The role is structured on a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, offering consistent work hours. Job Requirements
- Less than high school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Good judgment in thought and decision-making
- Dependable and hardworking
- Must be able to work well with others
- Must present a professional appearance and conduct
- Ability to use proper personal protective equipment
- Must comply with safety procedures and company rules
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to read 2-3 syllable words
- Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers
- Ability to print clearly and speak simple sentences
- Effective communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with tens and hundreds
- Knowledge of American measures of money, weight, size, and volume
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance if driving a vehicle for business
- Bilingual skills are a plus but not required
Job Duties
- Perform floor care including vacuuming, mopping, and carpet spotting
- Provide surface care such as dusting, sanitizing, cleaning glass, mirrors, windows, and polishing metal and wood
- Remove waste by emptying trash and recycling bins and transporting waste to disposal areas
- Conduct light maintenance including replacing light bulbs and restocking supply cabinets
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures while ensuring risk behaviors are stopped
- Follow all company protocols and respond to supervision effectively
- Transport equipment and furniture as needed, maintain lobbies and conference rooms, clean restrooms and break rooms, and assist janitorial staff with supply organization
