Job Description
We are a market-leading competitive data business renowned for over twenty years of expertise in acquiring pricing and availability data from across the web at scale. Our data footprint spans a gigantic 2-trillion-row data lake, servicing some of the largest and most influential companies in travel, retail, and beyond. Our trusted data drives critical pricing and revenue decisions for these top-tier clients, making data accuracy and reliability absolutely essential. As the company embarks on its next evolution, the quality of our data is becoming a product in its own right, with proven and defensible standards as the foundation of our offering.
This exciting opportunity is for a Data Scientist / Data Quality Lead on a contract-to-hire basis, offering a unique chance to design and build our data quality and assurance function from the ground up. This role is fully remote and open to candidates in North America, Europe, India, and South America. It begins with a 3-month contract with the option to convert to a permanent position. The initial contract engagement is geared toward hands-on leadership; you will architect and implement the observability platform for our massive Snowflake data lake and set standards for data freshness, completeness, coverage, and accuracy. You will engage with some of our largest clients, answer real-world data quality questions, and ensure the data quality issues are detected and resolved proactively before impacting customers.
As the Data Quality Lead, you will play a pivotal role in defining what good data quality looks like for a highly complex, multi-source dataset. You will work directly with vast real-world data susceptible to source-site changes, collection failures, and processing errors, driving proactive monitoring, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis. This role demands a seasoned professional with over five years in data science, data reliability, or data quality management, ideally with experience operating on large-scale, messy datasets. You should be fluent in SQL and Python, familiar with modern cloud data warehouse environments like Snowflake, and have a strong grasp of anomaly detection techniques and statistical quality signals. The successful candidate will have a passion for owning data quality at scale and the skills to build comprehensive monitoring and alerting frameworks.
This position offers flexibility in contractual arrangements (W-2 or independent contractor) and competitive hourly rates ranging from $85 to $150, depending on structure and location. Upon successful contract completion, there is a clear pathway to a permanent role with a competitive base salary ranging from $155K to $205K annually (or equivalent in local European markets), equity participation, and the opportunity to build and lead a vital function within the company. This role is especially compelling for candidates with prior experience in competitive pricing, rate, marketplace data, or backgrounds connected to consumer travel, online travel agencies (OTA), or rate intelligence. If you are ready to influence the future of data quality and take ownership of a foundational function at a market leader, this role represents a rare and impactful career move.
