Job Description

The Walt Disney Company is a world-renowned entertainment and technology leader known for its commitment to storytelling, innovation, and delivering exceptional experiences to audiences worldwide. With operations spanning theme parks, resorts, cruise lines, sports, news, movies, and various other businesses, Disney has a multifaceted enterprise dedicated to continuous growth and technological advancement. The company’s Enterprise Technology division supports this vision by providing technological solutions that align with business strategies, fostering enterprise-wide efficiency, and encouraging cross-company innovation. This department plays a vital role in enhancing consumer experiences, driving business growth, and improving operational excellence through cutting-edge technology.

Within Enterprise Technology, the Data Solutions & Products group is tasked with designing and developing advanced enterprise-wide solutions and managing a diverse portfolio of data-related products and tools. These tools support analytics, data processing, and automation that business teams across The Walt Disney Company rely on. The group’s mission centers on creating scalable, efficient, and innovative data platforms that enable Disney’s varied business units to leverage data for strategic insights and operational effectiveness.

The Data Engineering Manager role is a pivotal technical leadership position within the Data Solutions & Products team. This role involves overseeing significant projects focused on Disney’s data platforms and serving as the product owner for these platforms. The initial and primary project under this role is the implementation of a Finance Data Layer — a sophisticated data lakehouse designed to provide consolidated and accessible data to Finance departments. This includes support for Enterprise Performance Management systems, business intelligence reporting and analytics, and artificial intelligence/machine learning applications. Working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Data Engineering Manager will engage closely with cross-functional product and project teams, alongside business partners, to deliver innovative solutions that elevate Disney’s data capabilities.

The position demands strong leadership in managing teams of engineers, guiding major technical projects, and ensuring timely, on-budget delivery while maintaining high-quality standards. The manager is also responsible for defining product strategies, roadmaps, and innovations for data platforms, ensuring alignment with business needs. This role requires excellent communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts for both technical peers and business stakeholders. Additionally, mentorship and professional development of team members are key components, fostering a culture of growth and high performance. The Data Engineering Manager at Disney is not only a technical leader but also a strategic partner invested in driving data excellence and transformative innovation within one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.

The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary range depending on location — from $163,400 to $241,000 annually across Burbank, California; Seattle, Washington; and Orlando, Florida — plus additional compensation in the form of bonuses and long-term incentive units. Benefits include a comprehensive package of medical, financial, and other perks, reinforcing Disney’s commitment to supporting its employees holistically. This role is ideal for an experienced data engineering leader with a passion for enterprise-scale data architecture, financial data expertise, and a proven ability to lead high-impact projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
