The role at Chevron Stations Inc focuses on customer-facing duties in a retail setting where safety, efficiency, and hospitality are paramount. The ideal team member is responsible for maintaining professionalism and creating an outstanding customer experience at all times by delivering exceptional guest service, ensuring cleanliness and safety, handling transactions accurately, and promoting store marketing efforts. This position requires working in a dynamic environment which includes food preparation and beverage service in addition to fuel and retail sales transactions. The employee must uphold all company and legal standards regarding safety, hygiene, and sales of age-restricted products. Daily interactions with coworkers, customers, vendors, and contractors require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support team unity and operational success.

Employees in this role will be expected to follow established safety protocols, engage in ongoing loss prevention efforts, and maintain the cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor station facilities including restrooms and fueling areas. Food safety and proper handling procedures must be strictly followed in compliance with county regulations, especially when preparing hot food items and managing beverage stations like ExtraMile and Krispy Krunchy Chicken (KKC) food service. Cash handling and point-of-sale reconciliation are critical to maintain accountability and accuracy of daily sales. Candidates must be adaptable to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays.

Physical stamina is necessary for this role as it involves extended periods of standing, walking on uneven surfaces, lifting and moving products, and exposure to varied temperature environments such as walk-in coolers and freezers. Attention to personal hygiene and professional appearance as per company standards is also required. The position has no supervisory responsibilities but may occasionally require limited travel for training or coverage at other stations.

Employment at CSI offers a competitive hourly wage between $19.25 and $20.25, with compensation determined based on experience and qualifications. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility for various scheduling needs. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old to work in California and Oregon
  • Must be at least 21 years old to work in Washington and for graveyard shift or management positions
  • Ability to stand and walk long periods on hard and uneven surfaces
  • Ability to bend, lift, push, and move products using proper techniques
  • Ability to follow team-lift concept for heavy objects over 25 pounds
  • Must work safely with equipment that can have very high temperatures using proper PPE
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions during daylight hours
  • Moderate exposure to walk-in coolers and freezers at 34 F or below
  • Frequent handwashing and adherence to personal cleanliness standards
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and overnight shifts

Job Qualifications

  • Must be sufficiently proficient in English to understand policies, safety training, and job instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight, and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and exercise exceptional judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must possess up-to-date food handling certificates as required by law in specific locations
  • Cooking or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain courteous and professional contact with co-workers, customers, vendors, and community at large
  • Maintain neat appearance and good personal hygiene in compliance with CSI image standards
  • Support and follow established safety, security, quality guidelines as well as CSI's policies, procedures, practices, and programs
  • Report accidents or incidents to the manager immediately
  • Preserve safety of self, fellow employees, and all others in the work location by utilizing the CSI Loss Prevention process
  • Ensure food safety hygiene in accordance with county regulations
  • Follow federal law and company standards on carding customers for all age restricted products sold at the stations
  • Work professionally with vendors and contractors
  • Regular and punctual attendance is expected
  • Follow proper kitchen and sanitation procedures according to city and county regulations during cooking of KKC products
  • Provide exceptional guest service by greeting and thanking all customers while making eye contact
  • Conduct all point-of-sale activities accurately and safely including retail and fuel sales transactions
  • Maintain cash drawer levels and perform cashier reconciliation ensuring accurate sales management
  • Perform consistent station cleaning of indoor and outdoor facilities including restrooms, islands, pumps, and car wash
  • Prepare food and hot beverage products and manage foodservice inventory to maximize sales and minimize loss
  • Actively promote store specials and other marketing programs
  • Cross-check price of delivered goods for accuracy
  • Distribute delivered goods and ensure product shelves are fully stocked
  • Observe local law in activating and filling vehicle fuel tanks with gasoline or diesel fuel to specified levels (Oregon only)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
