Job Description
U-Haul is a well-established company that has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households since 1945. The company was founded out of a clear and practical need to provide affordable, one-way moving equipment that customers across the U.S. and Canada could rely on. The concept for U-Haul was born out of the vision of its co-founders, L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, who recognized the demand for accessible and reliable moving solutions after World War II. This vision helped create a culture of mobility and convenience that has become a cornerstone of U-Haul's identity. With its iconic orange trailers and a comprehensive network of centers, U-Haul continues to be a leader in the moving and storage industry, providing essential products and services to millions of customers.
As a Customer Service Representative at U-Haul, you become an integral part of a supportive team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to customers. This role is all about being the face of U-Haul, assisting customers both inside and outside the center, ensuring they have everything they need for their moving journeys. You will use modern technology, such as smartphone-based U-Scan, to efficiently manage rentals and inventory. The position requires hands-on activity, including inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining equipment on the lot, as well as moving and hooking up trucks and trailers. The role also includes installing hitches and trailer wiring, handling propane filling (with certification provided), and driving a forklift (certification also provided).
U-Haul offers a unique "Hire Fast, Pay Fast" model, allowing new employees to start and get paid immediately with two paid hands-on working interviews. Additionally, U-Haul provides attractive incentives such as a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus after completing the Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program. The company places a strong emphasis on career development through on-the-job education and continuous learning opportunities provided by U-Haul University. This position also offers career stability, potential for advancement, and a range of benefits designed to support your wellness and work-life balance.
Working at U-Haul involves moderate physical demands and some exposure to risks that require safety precautions, such as handling equipment and working around machinery. Protective gear and training are provided to ensure a safe work environment. The role demands physical activity including moving equipment weighing at least 50 lbs and being active both indoors and outdoors. U-Haul is committed to equal opportunity employment and offers accommodations throughout the hiring process as needed. The pay for this role starts at $14.00 per hour and the work location is in person.
