Job Description

The Twin Oaks Landfill, located at 2690 State Highway 30, approximately 3 miles east of William D. Fitch, is a well-established facility dedicated to the responsible management and disposal of waste materials. Operated under stringent environmental regulations, the landfill serves the local community by providing a safe and compliant site for waste disposal. It prioritizes customer service and regulatory compliance, balancing operational efficiency with environmental stewardship. Employees at Twin Oaks Landfill are integral to maintaining these standards through vigilant monitoring and customer interaction.

This position is a full-time, hourly role starting at $18 per hour. The schedule is rotating Monday through Saturday, with overtime required based on operational needs, reflecting the dynamic and demanding nature of landfill management. Reporting directly to the Office Support Supervisor, the position focuses on delivering exemplary customer service related to landfill operations. The role primarily involves gatekeeping duties—monitoring and controlling entry to ensure no hazardous or prohibited substances enter the landfill.

The role demands an individual to visually inspect all incoming loads, enforce compliance with landfill policies, and assist customers by providing accurate information and directing them to the correct disposal areas. The incumbent is responsible for weighing vehicles, collecting fees, issuing receipts, and maintaining an accurate register of transactions. Consistent record verification, from daily logs to monthly reports, forms a critical part of the job, as does performing routine clerical tasks and correspondence related to landfill operations.

Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the scale house, office, and customer areas is another essential aspect of the role, supporting a professional and safe work environment. This position requires an individual who can efficiently balance administrative duties with operational vigilance to ensure the landfill runs smoothly and safely. Employees must be capable of occasional physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Additionally, the role offers opportunities for professional development, including employer-provided training such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Waste Screening Course, which must be completed within six months of employment. While experience in customer service, clerical work, and cash handling is required, proficiency in Microsoft Office is equally important to perform the necessary reporting and paperwork duties efficiently. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred to enhance communication within the diverse customer base.

If you are meticulous, customer-focused, and eager to work in an environmentally conscious and community-oriented setting, this full-time landfill customer service position at Twin Oaks Landfill is a promising opportunity. Alongside competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package—including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plans with matching contributions, and paid time off—this job appeals to committed professionals seeking a stable and impactful career. The work environment is primarily office-based within a controlled and well-lit facility, offering a combination of desk work and on-site physical oversight responsibilities.
