The Customer Service Representative (CSR) role at K&G Petroleum/S&S Fuels is a vital position responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of the retail store. This hourly, non-exempt position reports directly to the Store Manager and plays a key part in ensuring the store runs efficiently while delivering excellent service to customers. The role demands an individual who thrives in a dynamic setting, handles responsibilities with minimal supervision, and contributes to both safety and profitability. CSRs are tasked with providing courteous customer service, resolving complaints promptly, and utilizing sales techniques to promote products while maintaining positive customer relations.
This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with a hiring wage range of $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on the store location, merit, and employee experience. Additionally, employees may be eligible for a pay increase after a 90-day probationary period. Being a non-exempt role, CSRs are eligible for overtime, reflecting the company’s adherence to labor laws and fair compensation practices. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk during shifts, lift various weights, and perform cleaning and maintenance tasks necessary to uphold store standards.
The role encompasses operating POS systems and other electronic equipment such as lottery machines, money order machines, and food-preparation equipment. It also involves manual duties, including cleaning, inventory management, and maintaining site cleanliness both inside and outside the facility. The work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to cold storage areas. The company provides a supportive culture with provisions for employee safety and ongoing training.

Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift
- ability to lift and/or carry up to 60 lbs. from ground to waist level as needed
- ability to lift and/or carry up to 30 lbs. from ground to overhead up to 30 minutes of shift (with appropriate safety equipment)
- ability to push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 lbs.
- ability to bend at waist with some twisting up to 1 hour of shift
- ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands
- work requires hand-eye coordination, including climbing a ladder to retrieve materials or place signage up to 4 hours of shift
- ability to work with minimal direction and periodic supervision
- ability to work in small spaces at times
- ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
- ability to comply with company policies and governmental regulations

Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- experience working retail sales and customer service preferred
- ability to work with tools/equipment and perform duties as described
- ability to work as scheduled and arrive on time
- ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and engage in conversation
- ability to work both independently and part of a team as necessary
Job Duties
- Provide exemplary, courteous customer service and handle complaints quickly and tactfully
- utilize suggestive selling techniques to drive sales while maintaining excellent customer rapport
- process all sales on cash register properly and accurately, handle cash and other forms of payment
- follow cash handling procedures to prevent loss and perform basic arithmetic
- perform multi-function operation of POS (cash register) and other equipment and machines as outlined
- perform cleaning duties necessary to maintain site cleanliness inside and out
- perform basic upkeep and/or cleaning of all equipment in the site
- maintain proper inventory levels and shift closeouts
- perform duties with minimal supervision, may be required to work irregular work hours
- notify store management of any observed dishonesty by customers, vendors, or other store employees
- follow vendor check-in procedures as well as company policy for confronting shoplifters
- comply with all company policies and procedures, including relevant governmental regulations
- complete/attend all required employee orientations, trainings, certifications, and/or meetings
