The Customer Service Manager (CSM) role at Canteen is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service while managing client accounts and supporting route operations. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $70,000 per year, along with additional forms of compensation such as a yearly bonus opportunity and a company car. The CSM will oversee route drivers, conduct regular customer site visits, resolve service-related issues, and play an active role in driving customer satisfaction, retention, and account growth.

This position suits an individual who is customer-focused, highly organized, and proactive. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include managing a team of 5 to 10 associates, overseeing between 20 to 50 client accounts, and ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations. The Customer Service Manager will develop incremental sales plans in collaboration with local management, coordinate efforts for improved customer retention, introduce new products for enhanced revenue, and ensure merchandising standards and audit evaluations are upheld.

This role also offers the flexibility to participate in route driver duties if needed, involving driving a company vehicle to deliver products, stocking, and maintaining vending and related equipment. Candidates are expected to have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Non-CDL Class C driver’s license with good driving record
  • minimum of 3 years driving experience
  • ability to operate or learn material handling equipment (box trucks, handcarts)
  • must be able to travel to client sites as needed
  • must be able to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
  • demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class service to clients and customers
  • bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-4 years of customer service experience preferred or minimum of 2 years related experience
  • route management, retail, merchandising, and/or food & beverage experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for site visits and client retention
  • assist branches with grand openings
  • ensure compliance with local and national account standards
  • review corporate compliance reporting
  • develop and implement action plans to improve SSS/control V-9 (food waste, o/s, etc.)
  • develop an account level incremental sales plan with local management
  • track performance and increase profitability
  • coordinate efforts to improve customer retention and client experience at the point of sale
  • build retail pricing opportunities and encourage repeat sales
  • introduce new products to increase revenue
  • drive compliance to merchandising standards
  • assess performance by location through audit reports
  • perform route driver duties as needed including driving company vehicle and maintaining equipment
