The Culinary Systems Chef plays a pivotal role in the success of Bon Appetit’s food programs across campus cafes. This position comes with a salary range of $75,000 to $80,000 and full-time employment status. The primary responsibility of the Culinary Systems Chef is to ensure that food offerings align with client culture and expectations, health regulations, and Bon Appetit’s rigorous standards related to food quality, freshness, sustainability, and presentation. The role entails being the campus subject matter expert on Caf Manager+ systems, menu transparency, recipe management, and nutritional data integrity. Working in close collaboration with the Campus Executive Chef and Registered Dietitian, the Culinary Systems Chef ensures the accuracy of recipes, allergen information, ingredient statements, and nutritional data communicated to guests.

This position demands strong leadership, training, and support capabilities to guide culinary teams in delivering consistent, high-quality food experiences across all cafe locations. The Culinary Systems Chef oversees program leadership and operational functions by promoting Bon Appetit’s culinary philosophy and culture, supporting successful cafe management, and ensuring that all purchasing and product choices meet the company’s sustainability goals. Additionally, this role requires maintaining compliance with client contracts and fostering a culture built on accountability, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

On the administrative side, the chef is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate and comprehensive menu and recipe data within the Caf Manager+ platform, ensuring guests have access to precise nutritional and allergen information. The role also includes training and coaching culinary staff on the use and adherence to these systems while motivating and helping team members achieve culinary and operational excellence. The Culinary Systems Chef must review and verify recipes for culinary accuracy, nutrition compliance, and consistency; manage weekly menu distribution; collaborate with cafe chefs on production requirements; and oversee menu changes and substitutions while maintaining transparency and quality standards.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in culinary arts, nutrition, or related field preferred
  • minimum of 3 years experience in culinary management or recipe development
  • proficiency with menu management software and nutritional analysis tools
