The Kitchen Supervisor role at Omni Corpus Christi Hotel is a dynamic and essential position within the culinary team. This role involves assisting in the overall operation of the culinary department and taking full responsibility for culinary operations in the absence of the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chefs. The Kitchen Supervisor works closely with Food and Beverage management to execute food orders efficiently and ensures the delivery of a high-quality dining experience to hotel guests. This includes maintaining consistency and quality of all food served, managing work schedules, ordering and receiving ingredients and culinary supplies, and upholding cleanliness and safety standards in food preparation and production areas.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in fast-paced culinary environments, particularly within hotel, resort, or restaurant settings. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and proficiency in managing inventory as well as food cost control. It also demands the capability to lead by example to support positive guest relations internally and externally. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid Food Handlers’ Certification and demonstrate self-motivation with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of 2 years experience in a hotel, resort, or restaurant culinary environment
  • valid Food Handlers' Certification
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • strong communication skills in English
  • ability to manage food production and inventory
  • ability to follow detailed instructions
  • self-motivated with ability to work independently

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of hotel/resort or restaurant experience in fast paced, culinary environment
  • ability to work a flexible schedule, to include PM shifts, weekends, holidays
  • ability to stand for extended periods of time (at least 8 hours/shift)
  • ability to ensure efficient, effective operation of the food production outlet(s)
  • ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) in English with vendors, co-workers, and management
  • ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • ability to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
  • ability to write and perform daily prep list and par sheets
  • ability to meet Omni Hotels & Resorts quality and performance standards
  • ability to update and maintain inventory
  • self-motivated, and ability to work with limited supervision
  • must have a valid Food Handlers' Certification

Job Duties

  • Controls the quality and consistency of all food served
  • creates and adjusts work schedule according to workloads and occupancy
  • order and receive ingredients and culinary supplies
  • consistently conduct departmental line-ups
  • maintains cleanliness of all food prep and production areas
  • conducts a month end inventory of all products
  • ensure work areas are set no less than 15 minutes prior to service
