The Culinary Supervisor, also known as the Heart of House (HOH) Supervisor, plays a vital role in maintaining the seamless operation of the kitchen at Flix Brewhouse. This position reports into the Assistant Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Manager and includes significant supervisory responsibilities over the hourly kitchen team. As a Culinary Supervisor, you will step into the role of Kitchen Manager on Duty when needed, providing leadership and direction during shifts. You will be responsible for managing staffing needs by filling cooking positions as required and leading the expediting efforts during busy periods to ensure kitchen efficiency and guest satisfaction. Working closely with management, you will mentor and develop kitchen staff, helping to foster a positive team environment and support career growth.
The successful candidate must have a strong foundation in professional cooking skills, food safety, and sanitation standards. You will be expected to uphold the highest quality in food preparation, presentation, and cost controls. Your strong organizational and communication skills will be essential in managing daily operations such as inventory control, cleanliness, and adherence to company policies. Fluency in English is required, and bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus, aiding communication within a diverse team. The role demands physical stamina due to the necessity to be on your feet for long periods and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Current Serve Safe certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience in restaurant kitchen environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Availability to work flexible shifts including holidays
- Ability to maintain high food quality and safety standards
- Good English written and verbal skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Commitment to quality service
- Ability to coach and develop kitchen staff
- Ability to follow licensing and labor laws
- Must be self-motivated and organized
Job Qualifications
- Serve Safe manager level certification or ability to attain within 6 months
- Knowledge of knife handling, safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Previous experience as a cook lead or equivalent
- Professional communication skills in English
- Ability to work any shift including holidays
- Leadership skills including coaching and mentoring
- Problem-solving abilities and self-motivation
- Basic computer literacy for inventory and ordering
- Bilingual Spanish communication skills a plus
Job Duties
- Supervise hourly kitchen staff and serve as Kitchen Manager on Duty in the absence of management
- Fill cooking positions as needed for efficient kitchen operations
- Oversee time management including in-times, breaks, and out-times for kitchen personnel
- Conduct line-checks to ensure kitchen readiness
- Manage clean-up and closing duties for the kitchen
- Lead expediting during peak business hours
- Mentor and guide team members in performance and development
