Job Description

UW Health is currently seeking a Culinary Services Lead to join their team with a full-time work schedule of 100% FTE, days/evenings from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm Monday through Friday, including some holidays. This pivotal role requires a professional who excels in leadership, time management, and communication to effectively manage workflows and delegate responsibilities within the Culinary Services Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, enabling quick problem-solving while actively shaping the patient experience through exemplary customer service. In addition to managing daily operations, this role plays a vital part in training and orienting new staff members, requiring adaptability to various learning styles and the ability to coach and mentor effectively.

The Culinary Services Lead is responsible for acting as a leader within the department and the wider organization, ensuring all UW Health guidelines and policies regarding food safety and sanitation are followed rigorously. This role also offers additional compensation components such as an evening or night shift differential to recognize the value of off-peak shift work.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years food service, hospitality, or customer service experience
  • ServSafe Certification within 180 days
  • Ability to work days and evenings Monday through Friday
  • Availability to work some holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's Degree in Culinary, Hospitality, or Nutrition preferred
  • 3 years food service, hospitality, or customer service experience
  • 6 months leadership experience preferred
  • ServSafe Certification within 180 days

Job Duties

  • Provide exemplary customer service while working with patients, visitors, and other staff members
  • Follow all UW Health guidelines and policies regarding food safety and sanitation
  • Train and orient new staff members
  • Act as an effective leader for the Culinary Services Department and the organization
  • Manage workflows and delegate tasks to team members
  • Solve problems on the spot with critical thinking
  • Coach staff adapting to different learning styles
