We are seeking an experienced Culinary Operations Manager to lead our kitchen team towards operational excellence. This leadership role focuses on maintaining smooth kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and delivering exceptional food preparation and service. The Culinary Operations Manager will be instrumental in managing inventory, controlling food costs, and ensuring staff are trained and engaged. Job Requirements

  • basic math skills required
  • familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • prior experience in school foodservice is preferred

Job Duties

  • Fully understand and adhere to all organizational policies, guidelines, and training protocols
  • ensure consistent food preparation and service according to established recipes and standards
  • provide orientation for kitchen staff and oversee the training of new team members
  • fill in for team members as necessary to maintain high levels of customer service
  • organize and submit paperwork accurately and on time, including forms, reports, and schedules
  • inspect and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper operation, and report any repair needs
  • manage food inventory by ordering products based on specifications and ensure proper delivery and storage conditions
  • control food costs through diligent management of food usage and waste control
  • ensure timely completion of employee performance appraisals and uphold staff accountability
  • schedule kitchen labor in alignment with operational needs while meeting labor cost targets
  • administer corrective actions with fairness and consistency when policies are violated
  • comply with all relevant health, safety, and labor laws, ensuring safe kitchen practices
  • train kitchen employees on equipment safety and sanitation practices
  • maintain cleaning schedules for kitchen facilities and areas
  • monitor food holding and refrigeration temperatures, ensuring logs are completed daily
  • provide training on safety measures for lifting and handling hazardous materials
  • adhere to cash handling procedures and ensure accurate reconciliation practices
  • ensure that operations comply with legal regulations, financial practices, and established company standards
  • exercise judgement for any matters not explicitly addressed in company policies
  • oversee all kitchen operations, evaluating employee performance and submitting necessary reports
  • take on additional responsibilities as required for kitchen management
