Job Description

Banner Health is one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, renowned for providing stability through its success and embodying values that healthcare professionals are proud to represent. With a mission focused on innovative and compassionate healthcare, Banner Health combines state-of-the-art medical technology with a dedicated team of professionals to deliver exceptional patient and community care. The organization operates a wide array of healthcare facilities and services, demonstrating a strong commitment to the communities it serves across various regions.

Located in Greeley, Colorado, Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a leading acute care facility and a Level II trauma center with 378 beds and more than 3,000 employees. It has been a healthcare leader in Weld County, northern Colorado, and its surrounding multi-state region for over a century. The medical center provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. It also houses the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of Northern Colorado’s premier cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities. The center’s community-based and specialty services extend to southern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western Kansas, and northeastern Colorado. The surrounding area offers an inviting community lifestyle with abundant recreational activities, making it an attractive location for healthcare professionals.

The Culinary Manager role at Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a full-time position primarily scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours, though flexibility is required for occasional evenings, weekends, and night shifts as operational needs dictate. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of food service within the hospital’s culinary department, which includes overseeing culinary, catering, retail, and patient meal service operations.

As Culinary Manager, the successful candidate will lead a diverse team responsible for delivering quality food services that meet patient, visitor, and staff expectations while complying with County, State, and Joint Commission (JCAHO) regulations. The role involves hiring, training, scheduling staff, and fostering an environment where employees can perform effectively and deliver excellent service. You will lead the planning of menus, monitor food preparation and presentation, and maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards. Part of the leadership responsibility includes interacting with physicians, clinical staff, and department managers to ensure meal service meets quality satisfaction goals and patient care needs.

In addition to leadership and staff management, the Culinary Manager will be tasked with overseeing budgetary considerations by monitoring and controlling operating expenses and other key performance indicators. The education and development of culinary team members will also be a primary focus, requiring the establishment of comprehensive training and orientation programs. The Culinary Manager will work closely with the clinical nutrition team to address patient dietary needs and help deliver effective nutrition service.

This role requires an individual with prior experience managing kitchen teams and culinary operations, proving strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. The position calls for knowledge of food handling regulations and the ability to guide teams in compliance efforts. Familiarity and comfort with electronic medical records and various office and kitchen equipment are essential. The estimated pay range for this position is $27.78 to $46.20 per hour, reflecting the organization's commitment to pay equity and transparency, and compensation will be based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

Joining Banner North Colorado Medical Center offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals to contribute meaningfully to a respected healthcare institution, improving patient and community health outcomes through exceptional culinary services. Banner Health values its employees and promotes a drug-free work environment, equal employment opportunities, and a culturally inclusive workplace.
