Job Description
Ochsner Health is a leading healthcare organization with a rich history dating back to its opening in 1942. Over the decades, Ochsner has maintained a steadfast commitment to serving communities through healing, leadership, education, and innovation. As a comprehensive health system, Ochsner provides a wide range of medical services and continually strives to deliver high-quality patient care. Its dedication to excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, broken records, and heartfelt patient success stories. This dedication is sustained by the passionate and skilled employees who work tirelessly every day within its facilities. Ochsner Health values each team member’s contribution, whether they work directly with patients or support those who do, emphasizing that every role is essential in making a difference in patient lives.
The CT Technologist role at Ochsner Health plays a critical part within the diagnostic imaging department. Working collaboratively with staff radiologists, this position is responsible for assessing patients and accurately performing routine Computed Tomography (CT) procedures in compliance with strict radiation safety guidelines and protocols. This clinical role demands precision, technical expertise, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Beyond the technical functions, the CT Technologist serves as a clinical mentor to junior staff members and students, fostering a learning environment and supporting professional development within the department. The position requires proficiency in operating complex imaging equipment, verifying physician orders to ensure proper procedure execution, and maintaining high diagnostic quality in imaging results. The technologist also contributes to quality control processes and supports departmental operations such as inventory management and staff scheduling.
A key component of the CT Technologist’s responsibilities includes effective communication with patients, explaining the procedures to ensure understanding and comfort, and adapting communication styles according to patient needs while respecting privacy and individual differences. The role also involves compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as accreditation and safety standards. Working within a collaborative healthcare environment, the CT Technologist must adhere to Ochsner Health System’s compliance and privacy programs, uphold standards of conduct, and promptly report any concerns regarding ethical practices or patient safety.
Physical requirements for this role include medium work involving lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods, with adherence to safety protocols such as the use of mechanical lifting devices as necessary. The job also entails routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues, and potential exposure to communicable diseases given the patient care setting.
This position offers an opportunity to join an innovative and highly respected healthcare system that supports career growth, values teamwork, and prioritizes patient-centered care. Ochsner Health is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. Candidates interested in making a meaningful impact in healthcare and advancing their career in diagnostic imaging are encouraged to apply and contribute to Ochsner’s mission of excellence in patient care and community health.
