Job Description

The resort prides itself on a welcoming atmosphere that enhances access to mountain adventures and village life, making it a sought-after destination for both guests and employees. Schweitzer has a strong reputation for its thoughtful growth, commitment to quality, and dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences throughout all seasons. The resort operates multiple facilities, including dining options that reflect the culinary heritage and vibrant culture of the area. One of its premier dining establishments, Crow's Bench, specializes in alpine cuisine crafted from scratch, offering guests a unique and hearty dining experience.

The position of Commis Cook (Line Cook) at Crow's Bench offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about global cuisine and eager to develop their culinary skills in a dynamic mountain resort environment. This seasonal full-time or part-time role pays between $14.00 to $17.00 per hour and includes access to a variety of valuable employee benefits like free Alterra Mountain Resort pass, employee housing options, discounted onsite childcare, accrued paid sick leave, and a 401(k) match program. Depending on employment status, employees may also qualify for comprehensive medical benefits, vacation time, and paid parental leave.

As a Commis Cook, the successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and execution of multiple line stations during service hours, focusing on food preparation, presentation, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. The role requires working closely with chef and sous chef staff to ensure that all culinary creations meet recipes and portion standards while emphasizing teamwork between the back-of-house and front-of-house teams. The position requires dedication to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced kitchen setting while demonstrating a genuine passion for quality food and customer satisfaction.

This is an excellent opportunity for culinary enthusiasts seeking to build their career in the hospitality and mountain resort industry. Schweitzer supports its employees by fostering a culturally rich and collaborative work environment, encouraging professional growth and personal wellness. The work involves hands-on preparation, cooking and assembling dishes that reflect alpine culinary traditions, and participating in the broader resort community by becoming knowledgeable about Schweitzer Mountain Resort's facilities and services. Employees should be ready for physically demanding tasks such as standing and walking for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working around potential hazards in the kitchen environment. This role is suited for individuals with general knife skills, food safety knowledge, and ideally some previous experience as a line cook. Schweitzer values team members who work diligently and contribute positively to the guest experience and this exciting mountain resort setting.
