The Food & Beverage Manager role at Courtyard New York Central Park is a pivotal position charged with overseeing the dining experience to ensure every meal and interaction is memorable. This position is classified as an overtime eligible manager (OEM), meaning that overtime regulations and compensation apply. The manager will be responsible for guiding the hospitality team, ensuring that guests from the lounge to banquet rooms receive superior service and feel genuinely welcomed.
As the 'Captain of Hospitality,' the Food & Beverage Manager takes the lead in coaching and training team members, guaranteeing smooth operations during each shift. Additionally, the role demands strict adherence to operational and compliance standards, including grooming, safety policies, and necessary certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid. Administrative duties, such as payroll management, staff scheduling, and performance reporting, are integral to the position, requiring sharp organizational skills.
Further responsibilities include maintaining quality control and driving engaging promotions to enhance the dining experience, managing inventory and beverage purchasing efficiently. The Food & Beverage Manager acts as a communication hub, ensuring all parties are kept informed and addressing guest complaints or requests promptly, thus maintaining high satisfaction levels. Versatility and a proactive attitude are essential, as the role involves attending meetings, analyzing reports, and providing hands-on support wherever necessary.
Candidates for this position should possess a minimum of 5 years of progressive hospitality experience or hold a relevant college degree combined with practical experience. Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheet, and word processing software is required, complemented by strong financial and arithmetic abilities. Previous supervisory experience is preferred, along with excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
