As a Counter staff member at OTTO, you will be the first face of the restaurant greeting guests upon their arrival and the last contact as they leave, ensuring a positive and lasting impression. This role is essential in completing the guest experience while adhering to the company’s policies to prevent loss and maintain efficiency. As part of your responsibilities, you will handle all sales transactions, manage orders, and assist both guests and your coworkers to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant.

This position requires an individual who is customer-service oriented, detail-focused, and capable of multitasking effectively in a fast-paced, ever-growing environment. You will be expected to interact courteously and professionally with guests while providing accurate information about menu items, promotions, and taking note of any special dietary or allergy needs. Familiarity and accuracy when using point-of-sale (POS) systems are important to process sales transactions correctly and maintain cash accountability.

Additionally, maintaining a clean and organized work area is vital to the role, as well as complying with all sanitation, safety, and company standards. The role also involves assisting with closing duties to prepare the restaurant for the next day. You may be asked to assist wait staff during busy times, showcasing the collaborative spirit at OTTO.

Job Duties

  • Greet all guests as they enter and exit the restaurant facility
  • maintain awareness of all promotions and product knowledge
  • take orders when necessary including noting any dietary or allergy modifications
  • check identification of guests ordering alcoholic beverages to ensure legal age
  • distribute orders to kitchen staff for preparation when necessary
  • settle all purchases accurately and efficiently complete sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers
  • clean, organize and stock menus at cashier area
  • perform cleaning side work ensuring the dining room is clean and neat for guests
  • answer incoming calls and address customer queries and take orders when necessary
  • comply with established sanitation, safety, personal hygiene and health standards
  • perform closing activities such as cleaning chairs and tables, stacking chairs, preparing stations for morning shift
  • complete all service paperwork as required
  • maintain a clean and neat appearance and comply with company dress policy
  • assist wait staff when necessary
