The Corporate Crane and Rigging Safety Manager position at Zachry Group is a critical role dedicated to supporting new construction sites across the country, ensuring that all crane and rigging safety protocols are followed to the highest standards. This role involves comprehensive crane safety training, including various certifications and refresher training sessions designed to keep the workforce skilled and compliant with industry guidelines. The manager will be responsible for conducting NCCCO written and practical exams for crane, rigging, and signal personnel, ensuring that all certifications are current and met with the required proficiency.

This position requires supporting various sub-committees focused on crane and rigging operations, developing new safety programs, and overseeing compliance across all managed programs to maintain organizational safety standards. The Corporate Crane and Rigging Safety Manager must be capable of working in dynamic on-site environments, often exposed to moderate to high noise levels and various types of equipment and materials. The role demands a proactive safety mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with teams to promote safety awareness and training at all levels. Travel is an essential component of this job, with up to 90% travel expected to support multiple worksites nationwide. The role typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, formal on-the-job training or apprenticeship programs, and several years of relevant experience. Certification requirements include NCCCO credentials across crane, rigging, and signal person disciplines, as well as a commercial driver’s license (CDL) for operational needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • completion of a formal on-the-job training or apprentice program
  • 3-5 years of experience in crane and rigging safety
  • valid NCCCO certifications for crane, rigging, and signal person
  • ability to travel up to 90 percent
  • commercial driver’s license
  • physical ability to work in moderate to high noise level environments with various equipment and materials
  • preferred additional 5 years experience and NCCCO certifications as lift director, tower, and overhead

Job Duties

  • Conduct crane training including TSS, TLL, LAT, OVH, TWR
  • deliver signal person training
  • provide NCCCO refresher training for crane, rigging, and signal personnel
  • administer NCCCO written and practical exams for crane, rigging, and signal person certifications
  • support crane and rigging sub-committees
  • provide competent person training
  • create and develop new safety programs
  • support organizational compliance for all managed programs
  • perform other duties as assigned
