Job Description
South Suburban is a dynamic public agency dedicated to fostering healthy living through the stewardship of the environment, parks, trails, and open spaces. Serving a diverse community that includes Bow Mar, Columbine Valley, Centennial west of I-25, Littleton, Lone Tree, Sheridan, and unincorporated portions of Douglas, Jefferson, and Arapahoe counties, South Suburban operates an extensive network of recreational facilities and programs. These include four full-service recreation centers, golf courses, outdoor pools, restaurants, ice centers, miniature golf courses, a botanical garden event center, BMX track, sports dome, batting cages, entertainment center, hotel, and nature center. The organization manages nearly 3,800 acres of developed and open space, featuring 119 multi-purpose athletic fields, more than 100 parks, nearly 80 miles of trails, 60 playgrounds, 56 tennis courts, and the expansive 880-acre South Platte Park. The role of Cooking Instructor Part-Time at South Suburban is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about teaching culinary arts to both children and adults. This position involves delivering engaging arts and enrichment cooking classes in group settings, with the curriculum covering essential topics such as kitchen safety, recipe reading, proper cleanup methods, and equipment care. In some cases, the instructor may also teach cupcake making for birthday parties, adding a fun and educational component to special events. The position pays between $17.85 and $22.75 per hour and operates with an ongoing recruitment process, accepting applications on a rolling basis, which allows for flexibility in hiring the right candidate.

Experience teaching art or enrichment programs is highly preferred, as is current AED/CPR and First Aid certification. Job Requirements
- must be at least eighteen 18 years old
- must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- must have at least three 3 years of teaching experience
- must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within thirty 30 days of employment
- must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment
Job Qualifications
- at least three years of teaching experience
- prior experience teaching art and or enrichment preferred
- current AED/CPR and First Aid certifications preferred
- ability to communicate effectively with children, parents of children, and staff
- knowledge of child care programming, recreation, safety and emergency first-aid procedures, program management, and customer service principles
- highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
