The Cook Supervisor role at Summit is a vital position within the corrections segment, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This full-time, onsite role offers a compensation of $21.00 per hour and presents a unique opportunity to lead culinary operations in a dynamic, high-volume environment focused on scratch cooking. The cook supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising kitchen employees to meet rigorous standards of food quality, sanitation, and service efficiency. This role requires an individual with previous culinary experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

In this position, you will be instrumental in instructing and training kitchen staff on all aspects of food preparation and safety. You will ensure that meal services begin promptly and that every food item served meets established quality standards, including proper portion size, appearance, and temperature. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently are essential, as the correctional food service environment demands precision and reliability.

Additionally, the Cook Supervisor is expected to exemplify high-level culinary knowledge, deliver excellent customer service within the constraints of the correctional setting, and effectively supervise a team. Experience in managing a kitchen team and familiarity with food handlers certification are advantageous. Job Requirements

  • One year culinary experience in high volume food service
  • Knowledge of culinary methods and safety standards
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Food handlers certification preferred
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service

Job Qualifications

  • At least one years’ prior culinary experience in a quality and high volume establishment with an emphasis on scratch cooking
  • Complete knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques and standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks at once
  • Experience supervising a team
  • High-level product knowledge
  • Food handlers certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Instructing and training employees in all aspects of food service and sanitation
