Job Description
Summit is a leading food service provider specializing in correctional institutions across the United States. The company is dedicated to ensuring that incarcerated individuals receive access to nutritious and appetizing meals at each feeding, focusing on the importance of food quality and social interaction during meal times. Summit operates kitchens that maintain a structured and community-oriented environment, emphasizing consistency, safety, and compliance with rigorous food standards. With a commitment to quality service in challenging settings, Summit plays an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of correctional facilities.
The role of Cook Supervisor at Summit’s correctional facility kitchen in Fort Wayne, Indiana, offers an exciting opportunity for experienced culinary professionals. This full-time onsite position involves supervising and coordinating kitchen staff to ensure food preparation and service run smoothly in a fast-paced, dynamic, and controlled environment. Unlike typical restaurant settings, Summit kitchens operate with strict protocols to maintain safety and operational efficiency. As a Cook Supervisor, you will be responsible for training food service employees, managing meal schedules, and upholding strict culinary standards relating to portion sizes, appearance, and temperature of all food items served.
The role demands a culinary expert with experience in high-volume, scratch-cooking environments who is able to supervise a team effectively while delivering quality meals under time constraints. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and strong product knowledge. The position requires compliance with correctional facility background check procedures and adherence to established sanitation and food safety protocols. Compensation for this role is $21.00 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
