Job Description
Summit is a specialized food service provider dedicated to serving correctional institutions across the United States. Their mission is to ensure that incarcerated individuals receive nutritious, high-quality meals, helping to support the wellbeing and social interaction of inmates during mealtimes. Operating within this unique sector, Summit combines strict adherence to health and safety standards with a commitment to delivering delicious food, fostering a supportive environment for both staff and those they serve. Summit's presence in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is part of its broader effort to maintain consistent and quality food service in correctional facilities at a national level.
The Cook Supervisor role at Summit's correctional facility in Tulsa offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about leadership, food service, and operational excellence. This full-time, onsite position involves coordinating and supervising kitchen staff to ensure all aspects of food preparation and service meet rigorous standards. As a Cook Supervisor, you will play a critical role in managing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, training employees, and maintaining sanitation standards in a fast-paced, high volume environment. With an emphasis on scratch cooking, you will help oversee the timely and efficient delivery of meals, making sure each dish is prepared correctly in terms of portion, appearance, and temperature. This role demands strong culinary knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively.
In addition to operational oversight, the Cook Supervisor will instruct and train employees on food service techniques and sanitation protocols. This position requires multifaceted skills including multitasking, high-level product knowledge, and customer service orientation, especially in a correctional setting that presents unique challenges and responsibilities. Summit offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $18.00, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401k plan, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement for full-time employees. Joining Summit means becoming part of a team that values employee development, diversity, and inclusion while contributing to an essential service within the corrections segment. This role is ideal for experienced culinary professionals seeking a meaningful leadership position within a dynamic and supportive work environment.
