Job Description
Green Acres Health & Rehab is a non-profit, mission-driven healthcare organization dedicated to providing the highest level of care to the elderly population in our communities. With a strong commitment to compassionate, comprehensive rehabilitation and health services, Green Acres ensures that every resident receives personalized care in a warm, supportive environment. Operating as a community-centered long-term care facility, we emphasize a culture of respect, recognition, and reward for our team members. Here, staff members are valued not only for their vital work but also as integral parts of a collaborative team supported by strong leadership and attentive management. The organization fosters balance by supporting employees both on and off the clock, understanding that personal well-being contributes to workplace success and high-quality patient care.
The role offered is a PRN (pro re nata/as needed) Kitchen Assistant position, offering a competitive rate of $15.75 per hour with the benefit of weekly pay. This role is essential in ensuring that our residents receive nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals that cater to their individual dietary needs. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing various foods based on menus created by professional dieticians, operating kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness, and helping to manage food supplies. Your work will contribute directly to the comfort and health of our residents, many of whom have specialized dietary requirements. This position demands a consistent work pace and attention to detail to ensure that meals are served on time and that dietary restrictions, substitutions, and preferences are strictly observed.
The Kitchen Assistant role is multifaceted and requires a familiarity with institutional cooking tools and kitchen procedures. You will be expected to operate mixers, meat slicers, ovens, steamers, and other food preparation equipment, all while adhering to stringent infection control and food safety standards. Your responsibilities extend beyond food preparation to include the cleaning of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and dishes, as well as monitoring stock levels and proper storage of food and cleaning materials. Working in a healthcare environment, you will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with health regulations and supporting our reputation for excellence.
Being a Kitchen Assistant at Green Acres means you have a chance to make a meaningful difference every day. You will engage with a diverse and passionate team focused on serving our elderly population with dignity and respect. The role requires a positive attitude, excellent communication skills to interact kindly with patients, their families, and fellow staff, and a dedication to follow detailed instructions and standardized recipes. Additionally, you will help by filling in where kitchen support is needed, further illustrating the cooperative spirit of our team. This position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing, walking, and manual handling tasks, all carried out with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Joining Green Acres Health & Rehab means being part of a trusted healthcare system that values servant leadership, open communication, and continuous improvement. We encourage participation in system-wide committees and projects to promote collaborative success. If you are motivated by a mission to improve the lives of seniors through quality food service and teamwork, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.
