Job Description
Livin is a revolutionary private dining service based in Los Angeles that connects experienced culinary professionals with discerning clients seeking restaurant-quality meals prepared in the comfort of their own homes. This innovative company focuses on providing a seamless culinary experience by matching talented line cooks, prep cooks, banquet cooks, and culinary school graduates with private clients across LA's most desirable neighborhoods such as Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and Ventura County. Livin is committed to transforming the traditional culinary career path by removing common hurdles such as late-night shifts, long commutes, and the high-pressure environment of commercial kitchens.
As a part-time or contract cook with Livin, you will enjoy the freedom of working close to home, eliminating the stress of battling LA traffic and unfamiliar commercial kitchen settings. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals looking to escape the demanding restaurant grind without sacrificing income potential. Top earners regularly make $35 or more per hour, maintaining competitive wages while enjoying a better work-life balance. Since you retain 100 percent of your tips, your compensation can exceed traditional restaurant paychecks.
In this role, you will be responsible for shopping for fresh ingredients and preparing customized meals based on each client’s unique preferences, dietary restrictions, and allergy needs. You will work in beautiful, private home kitchens fully equipped for meal preparation, offering a more enjoyable and comfortable cooking environment compared to a fast-paced restaurant setting. Your duties will also include plating and properly storing meals for refrigeration or freezing and ensuring the kitchen is professionally cleaned and returned to its original state. Working independently in clients’ homes requires a hospitable demeanor, reliability, and exceptional attention to detail to maintain the highest standards of food safety and client satisfaction.
You do not need prior personal chef experience to apply. Livin specifically welcomes current and former line cooks, prep cooks, banquet cooks, and recent culinary school graduates from top accredited programs across Los Angeles. This is a unique chance to forge a real career path in private dining without the stress of managing client acquisition, scheduling, and billing — Livin handles all these business aspects so that you can focus solely on what you do best: cooking.
The schedule offers flexibility with primarily day and weekday shifts and optional weekend opportunities for those who want additional hours. Reliable transportation is essential for reaching client homes across LA and surrounding areas. Food safety certification through ServSafe or equivalent is required, or candidates can obtain certification before their first service. Becoming part of the Livin team means you will experience an enriching culinary career with generous compensation, flexibility, and the satisfaction of transforming home dining experiences for Los Angeles residents.
