The Cook/Sous Chef position supports our mission by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals with a strong hospitality focus tailored to the unique tastes and dietary needs of our senior residents. This role is vital to creating an enjoyable dining experience that contributes to the overall quality of life at Century Park Associates. Reporting directly to the Dining Services Director, the Cook/Sous Chef ensures that meal preparation aligns with established menus, nutritional guidelines, and company standards, incorporating safety and sanitation protocols as required by local and state regulations. The role requires expertise in food preparation, inventory management, and kitchen operations to maintain efficiency while meeting resident expectations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of scratch food preparation experience
- Prior experience preparing meals for large groups
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification
- Must enjoy serving seniors
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills

- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintains system to ensure timely meal services
- Checks daily menu and special events calendar to ensure necessary food and supplies are available
- Prepares meals meeting nutritional requirements as well as appetizing in appearance
- Garnishes plates to enhance overall dining experience
- Prepares food based on standardized recipes
- Makes only authorized substitutions
- Seasons food appropriately
- Serves food based on established portion controls
- Assists in preparation of special meals and for special events
- Estimates portions and utilizes leftovers appropriately to reduce food costs
- Operates kitchen within state and county regulations including sanitation, food storage, recordkeeping, food temperatures, portion sizes, chemical usage/storage
- Operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently including steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher
- Maintains cooler and freezer properly by dating and labeling food and ensuring no food is placed on the floor
- Assists with putting up stock on delivery days
- Assists with daily kitchen duties such as washing pots/pans, putting up stock, removing trash and boxes, cleaning steam table and checking water levels
- Completes daily cleaning assignments
- Maintains a clean and sanitized work environment
- Follows local and state handwashing procedures to ensure food safety
- Assists with supervisory duties in absence of Dining Services Director
