We are currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team, playing a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our dining services. This position is responsible for preparing meals according to cycle menus and ensuring proper food handling, preparation, meal service, and equipment cleaning. The role goes beyond basic meal preparation, creating a restaurant-style dining experience that enhances the enjoyment and quality of life for our residents. The Cook will plan and initiate cooking schedules to meet meal times and nutritional needs, monitor food temperatures to comply with safety standards, and maintain cleanliness and safety in all food preparation areas.
This position is available on both full-time and part-time basis, with shifts ranging generally between 4 and 8 hours. Specific part-time shifts include 6am to 2:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays. This flexibility aims to fit various lifestyle needs while providing a stable and rewarding workplace. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
- Effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow recipes and prepare food according to menus
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
Job Duties
- Coordinate food preparation and meal service, including nutritional snacks
- Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steamtable transfer and maintained throughout meal service
- Plan and initiate cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedules
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures and maintain a clean and safe environment
- Assist with inventory
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies
- Clean equipment and work areas as assigned
