The role of Cook at Discovery Management Group is an essential position that contributes significantly to enriching the lives of seniors through culinary excellence. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen equipment as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in senior living or a similar environment preferred
  • Knowledge of production methods, portion control, and food safety and handling required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
  • High attention to detail especially in presentation and plating
  • Availability to work weekends as part of the regular schedule

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold menu items including grill, sauté station, salad bar, and service line
  • Follow standardized recipes to ensure proper preparation, portioning, taste, and presentation of food
  • Taste and check food for quality, palatability, and adherence to culinary standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food preparation and service areas
  • Support a safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment following food safety and handling guidelines including maintaining temperature logs and overseeing food storage
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create an exceptional dining experience for residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned
