Job Description

North Central Surgical Center is a highly successful hospital affiliated with Baylor Scott & White, located in Dallas, TX. Established in 2005, this surgical-focused facility boasts 14 state-of-the-art Operating Rooms and 30 Medical/Surgical Patient Rooms. Situated conveniently at Walnut Hill and 75, within the prestigious NorthPark area, North Central Surgical Center has built a reputation for excellence and cutting-edge care. The hospital specializes in a variety of surgical fields, including Orthopedics, Spine, General Surgery, Pain Management, Urology, GI/Endoscopy, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, and Bariatric surgeries. Managed by United Surgical Partners International and accredited by the Joint Commission, this center maintains rigorous standards to deliver quality health care to its community. Performing over 12,000 procedures annually, North Central Surgical Center partners with some of the best medical staff in the region to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Currently, North Central Surgical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Hospital Cook to join the Dietary Department on a full-time basis. This role involves preparing and producing food for patients, staff, visitors, and catered events while adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation standards. The Hospital Cook will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and presentation of all food served, ensuring that every meal meets standards of taste, freshness, and appearance. Responsibilities include previewing menus to determine types and quantities of food required, assisting in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of foods across various dining facets such as patient meals, cafeteria service, and catering events. In addition, the Hospital Cook will ensure proper setup for catered functions, inspect cooking equipment for cleanliness and functionality, and maintain sanitation levels throughout the food preparation process. The position requires someone who is detail-oriented, has strong organizational skills, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should have experience in high-volume food production environments, with a preference for those who have more than three years of extensive knowledge in food preparation from scratch. Communication skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to exercise independent judgment are also important. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a high volume restaurant, hospital, or institution preferred
  • Ability to meet all city, county, state and federal certification standards
  • Ability to meet time standards required by production schedule
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Preview menus to determine types and quantities of food to be obtained and prepared
  • Assist in preparing, seasoning, and cooking foods for patients, cafeteria, catering and any other duties as required
  • Ensure that all catered events are set up appropriately
  • Inspect cooking equipment and utensils, maintain cleanliness and proper operation
  • Observe and maintain required levels of sanitation throughout the food preparation process
  • Ensure that all foods meet standards for quality, freshness, taste, and appearance
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
