As a Cook at St. Luke's Health - The Woodlands Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors through the preparation of high-quality, safe, and delicious meals. The position requires strict adherence to state and federal food preparation regulations within a healthcare environment, including compliance with therapeutic diet requirements and food safety standards. You will be responsible for executing recipes precisely using safe cooking techniques and maintaining rigorous quality control to ensure consistent food quality in appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. This role demands experience in high-volume food preparation and a commitment to culinary excellence in a fast-paced setting. You will use various kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills while modifying preparations to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions. Maintaining proper labeling, storage of food products and equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in cooking and serving areas will be essential to your success. The role offers an hourly pay range of $18.15 to $25.63 and promises a dynamic work environment dedicated to quality patient care through nutrition.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in food services
  • Food Handler Permit TX within 30 days
  • Servsafe Certification within 30 days
  • One year of hospital experience preferred
  • Associates degree or two years of equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of the Associate's degree preferred
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical ability to handle kitchen duties and equipment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Champion food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature and sanitation
  • Prepare and serve food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Modify preparations to account for food allergies
  • Maintain proper labeling of food products and ensure storage of food equipment and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines
  • Perform washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas
