Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., established in 1983 in Glendale, California, stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations globally, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. At its core, Panda Restaurant Group is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and inspiring work environment where employees are empowered to improve their lives while upholding family values. The company's commitment extends beyond its dining experience to impacting communities positively and embracing diversity and equal opportunity in its workforce.

The role of the Panda Shift Leader is pivotal within this dynamic and fast-paced organization. Shift Leaders serve as vital team members who energize the restaurant atmosphere and bring Panda's mission to life by supporting management in creating food with passion, service with heart, and ambiance with pride. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop valuable skills in managing store operations and leading a team during the shift. Shift Leaders contribute hands-on to food preparation, ensuring that guests receive Panda’s signature dishes crafted with quality and care. This role is perfect for individuals eager to cultivate leadership abilities and expand their expertise across operational, customer service, and culinary domains.

Working as a Shift Lead at Panda means becoming part of a vibrant, welcoming environment where guest experience is paramount. Leaders help maintain high standards of restaurant cleanliness, safety, and efficiency while inspiring and coaching team members to perform their best. The position demands adaptability in a fast-changing environment and the ability to handle conflicts and challenging situations effectively. Shift Leaders must be prepared to stand for long periods, work with kitchen tools such as Chinese cook knives, and lift up to 50 pounds, underscoring the physically active nature of the job. The work environment is typically noisy with limited storage space, requiring strong communication skills and a commitment to safety protocols, including food safety certifications that comply with local regulations.

This role is ideal for candidates who have some operational experience, especially in food service, although educational requirements are flexible with some high school education being adequate. The job provides an excellent foundation for career growth within Panda Restaurant Group, supporting personal development and offering diverse skill-building experiences in a leadership position. As an equal opportunity employer, Panda Restaurant Group ensures that all employees and applicants receive fair treatment without discrimination on any legally protected basis and provides necessary accommodations to facilitate their participation in the hiring process and employment.

Joining Panda as a Shift Leader means becoming part of a company that values its people as the recipe for success and promotes a culture of teamwork, respect, and excellence. The role not only supports your professional growth but also invites you to contribute meaningfully to the guest experience and community engagement. This comprehensive and rewarding position is a critical step for anyone passionate about the food service industry who wishes to develop leadership qualities in a supportive, family-oriented company.
